Hand Embroidery Course – Level 1
Course description
Do you know your lazy daisy from your chain stitch? Spend a relaxing few hours working at your own pace to learn a variety of stitches. Embroidery has a variety of applications, from customizing clothes to creating your own artwork.
During this course students will be introduced to a variety of hand embroidery stitches.
Starting with a simple running stitch, laced running stitch, whipped running stitch and back stitch, by the end of the first week we will have progressed to more complicated techniques such as French knots which can be used to attach sequins; a whipped spiderweb, a woven spiderweb and a needle-woven ribbon rose.
What you’ll learn in this embroidery class:
This class will take you through around 25 different stitches considered essential to the art of embroidery. With knots, edging, and basics, you will end your course with a finished sampler of all you learned as well as the tools to continue further.
Just relax, peace out and learn to embroider! In this level one course.
Other stitches taught on this course include:
• chain stitch, blanket and buttonhole stitch
• daisy stitch, stem stitch and couching
• cross stitch, star stitch and herringbone
• reverse herringbone for shadow-work

• ribbon stitch for silk ribbon flowers
• long and short satin stitch and split stitch for thread painting
• raised satin stitch for stump-work
