Introduction
This is a beginners level learn to knit class suitable for the novices. In this class You will learn fundamental knitting skills that transform novices into practiced knitters able to tackle a variety of future projects with confidence. In this four weeks course, learners will be taught with step by step instructions, and lots of helping hands, guidance and follow up lessons while learners work through their basic project.
This four week course covers all of the basics of knitting – including basic knit stitch, purling, casting on and casting off!
Then allows you to get started on a simple project of your choice under the expert eye of your tutor for when you get stuck.
Session schedule
These sessions will be relaxed and focus on skill building and gaining confidence to attempt more complex patterns after completing the course.
Session One:
We will look at how to cast on using two needles and how to do knit stitch. We will start to make a small project using this knit stitch.
Session Two:
We will check you have got the hang of knit stitch, casting on and off and then start working on simple shapes that involves simple increasing and decreasing stitches while working in garter stitch. You will also start learning pattern reading in this session.
Session Three:
You will learn to purl and move on to combining these basic stitches to create different effects – these combinations are known as garter stitch, stocking stitch and moss stitch. We will look at how this is shown in knitting patterns to help increase your confidence to work independently after the course.
Session Four:
We will make sure you have cracked all the basics going over any bits you would like to practice again and then get you started on a simple project. I will discuss about this project in your third session.
Who is this class suitable for?
For those with no knowledge of knitting or those who used to knit a long time ago but you must have a desire to knit and enthusiasm to learn. Suitable for learners from age 6 and up. Children and adults classes available.
